09 August 2007
Yar. I know it's like almost midnight now. xD But I just returned home from a day of celebrations..

Uber cool day. National Day. 9th of August 2007, which is also 090807. xD Haha... A Special day for 987FM. Wakaka...

[ Now Listening To: Gym Class Heroes - Clothes Off ]

Not that I like Singapore and stuff. But it's rare to have such festivals in Singapore. So I decided to have a look see and all today...

At first when I woke up at 12.30pm today, I wanted to go to Fort Canning for Singfest to listen to all the local artists. But it seems that going there alone seems kinda odd... so I let the idea slide. xD

Went joyriding instead. xD Hahaha. What a way to spend a public holiday.

And surprisingly, even if it is a public holiday, many stores are still open! It's so unlike Chinese New Year, where every single damn Chinese store is closed and the only place you can look to is Geylang Serai Market and Mustafa Shopping Center...

Bi-cycled to Bedok Reservoir, then took 60 to Bedok Int. Bought some stuff there and headed to Pasir Ris.

Svc 9 disappoints me today. So I took 168 + 5 to get there via Bedok Reservoir, Tampines, Simei and Changi. And there's a great thing about my beloved Svc 5. Turn round and round here and there before finally reaching my destination. =P

Surprisingly, I resisted my temptation to stop at East Point. Cuz every time I go to Simei, I always HAD to check that place out. xP Surprisingly, this time is different....

And what else did I resist? I resisted eating Fast Food today. Yep. In fact, I didn't eat a single thing during my joyride, except drinking a bottle of Pepsi...

[ Now Listening To: Kat Deluna feat. Elephant Man - Whine Up ]

From Pasir Ris, spent a one and a half hour ride on Svc 88 to Toa Payoh, via Sengkang, Hougang, Ang Mo Kio and Bishan. Then spent another one and half hour on Svc 143 from Toa Payoh to Jurong East via Orchard, Chinatown, Harbourfront and West Coast.

And guess what I saw on 143 whilst at Pandan Reservoir...

May seem like nothing but a skyline. But that small spec of dot beside the industrial towers is actually the helicopter holding the National Flag heading to Marina for the Parade... Haha. Surprised to see it there...

[ Now Listening To: Paolo Nutini - New Shoes ]

From Jurong East, headed to Al-Mukminin for prayers, which surprisingly had this nice soft and luscious carpet that seems to attract me to sleep there... ^^ Zzzz.... Haha....

Then ciao-ed on Svc 97 to Marina Center, in hopes of catching the fireworks. It was like 7+ by then.... But the bus was like, crawling all the way through the AYE and Harbourfront area.... Yes, it was crawling through an expressway... =.="

But in the end, I'm glad it crawled and took its time to get there actually. Cuz upon reaching Collyer Quay area, the firework started and I enjoyed my time in an air-conditioned place, with not many people in the bus with me, enjoying a scenic view of fireworks.

The other people were like, camping by the roadside to view the fireworks... =P Even on the bustops. Even on the Padang... But I managed to enjoy it in a bus! =D Heh.. Too bad it wasn't a double decker bus, if not, I would have a better view.....

[ Now Listening To: Rihanna Feat. Jay-Z & Chris Brown - Umbrella/Cinderella (Remix) ]

Consider me lucky for actually boarding that bus, which HAPPENED to be at that area at the same time when fireworks are blooming... Yay!

And I manage to catch it on video! Pardon the reflections of light from the bus, as well as the blockages of the fireworks thanks to the trees, buildings and other vehicles there as well... =D And sorry that it's kinda sideways...

Reminds me a lot of that Fireworks Festival me and my sis went to last year. Same place, but the festival LOT more spectacular!

Still, I enjoyed myself on BOTH occasions... Haha...

[ Now Listening To: Pussycat Dolls Feat. Timbaland - Wait A Minute ]

Since 97 was a loop service and that it loops at Suntec. I remained on board even after it looped and went back to Esplanade area. =D

By then the fireworks display was over and all the people are all heading home.... And since they were conveniently camped at or nearby bustops, they caused a MASSIVE disturbance boarding buses till the brim.

And I DO NOT want to even THINK how full the trains will be at Raffles Place. xD

BEFORE...

....AFTER xD

Haha...

Remained seated on that same 97 up to VivoCity, where many of the people there alighted to board the NEL.

[ Now Listening To: Mario - How Do I Breathe ]

Forgot to mention the jam at Esplanade. Which is like a natural thing during events such as this.

Don't know whether to thank the jam or not. The good thing about the jam is that during the Firework Display, the bus took its time before it could move much. The bad thing is that, once it was over, it will take a while to get out of the area. >.<

Actually took 45min to get out of the Esplanade area to get to VivoCity. >.> DAMN LONG WAIT LA....

[ Now Listening To: Evanescence - Call Me When You're Sober ]

Then took 30 back home from there.

30 actually passes by Benjamin Shears Bridge, and it's like, a DOUBLE DECKER bus. So it makes me regret taking 97 cuz 30 will give a MUCH better view of the firework display...

Saw on the news that there was some waterfall thingy from Benjamin Shears. Damn cool when I saw it on MobTV on the bus.

Ooo... empty grand stand....

I took 30 at 9.40-ish, so by then, the Grand Stand was like, EMPTY!!! Haha....

And my phone was dying then. So I immediately went home. Reached home at like 11... =P
