Chapter 6.
I thought this episode was great because we got to see what Roku and Sozin were like before the war and the events that led up to it. History is always interesting when it's visual. I can't believe that after all they went through Soizn left Roku to die but then we got to see baby Aang with was adorable.
I would have never expected Zuko to be Roku's great grandson which leads me to think that technically Aang is also Zuko's great grandfather just reincarnated. Iroh's new voice is good and almost sounds like his voice. It will never be as good as Mako's but I suppose that we should be happy with it.
But it's very pitiful to find out that Roku died a horrible death, and betrayed by his best friend on top of that. But the fact that Roku's dragon tried to protect him and dying along with him is really touching.
However, this episode is really contradictory compared to Winter Solstice. Why didn't Roku go into the Avatar State and bend the lava into the ocean, when in Winter Solstice, Roku bended the lava up from beneath the earths surface to destroy the temple. He couldn't have learned that move in the spirit world, as he cannot bend in the spirit world.
I personally just think the creators needed a way for Roku to die, in a way that it tied to the war and Sozin and this was the best way for them.
Rating: 9/10. Very Star Wars-ish, where some back-trekking is always good to find out people's history.
Ain't Roku cool?
Chapter 7.
The first episode in the season that is revolving around Toph.
The gang has a new animal pet thing to the group. Sparky Sparky Boom Man: Amazing. And when Aang actually used that name it was PRICELESS. "AAAAHHHHH IT'S THE SPARKY SPARKY BOOM MAN!"
I loved this episode; it was amazing and hilarious and extremely well done. Toph was an awesome scammer and I loved how she does it all with her "innocent" act. I loved the twist where the Combustion man gets the villagers ahead of time to create a wooden jail cell. That was really good. I was not expecting that, actually.
Did anybody notice that when Katara was delivering the final blow with her sweatbending that there was ALOT of sweat? *cringes* XDDDD
Oh. I also like how there still is some Toph/Katara tension going on. After their first night together in Season 2, they've stopped arguing as much but it was nice to see that they still get on each other's nerves. They really are quite different so it was nice to see how each other's pros and cons effect them. And of course, there was some nice Sokka/Toph moment with him trying to mediate with her. <333333
And I don't know how Hawky knows how to find Toph's parents, but I'm sure he's a clever hawk. He's not a Messenger Hawk for no reason. ^_^
Rating: 8/10. Not a fan of Toph though. But it was definitely hilarious.
Chapter 8.
Another amazing Avatar episode. I'm glad to see that the story's finally picking up speed. It was such an exciting episode. It was creepy and dark from the very beginning and made me very anxious the whole time. I was quite skeptical of the old lady.
Sokka's story telling skills win. Along with his Sasuke-like hair. XD Well, not really.
Let's see... Toph hearing the screams of the people was pretty freaky cool. It's so amazing how powerful her hearing is. The waterbender was amazingly powerful. And cynical and bitter. Her skills were amazing, like the finger daggers and taking the liquid from flower, which Katara also learned to do. The way she was retelling her story of how she learned to bloodbend was frightening; she really dug deep. I do wonder about the rest of the prisoners though... did they all die out and she was the last one? If there were still some left, how come she didn't set them free either? Hmmm...
At first I was like "omg, she might be related to Katara/Sokka!!!!" but she was too old and she was evil. Why would the producers wants her to be part of the heroes' family?
My ideas. Firstly, she will now be able to control anyone at anytime, and secondly maybe she will be able to take the water out of people just like plants to kill them quickly. But with the Katara blood bending thing, I do not think that she will use it but as a result of learning this will make her fear her own bending and that might result in her skill going backwards for and episode or 2 until her friends are in danger and she is the only one who can save them. That might happen if Hama Returns if of cause any of that happens that would the best episode ever.
Hama Vs Katara too, where Hama is stronger and scarier and more skilled and where Katara is scared to use her full potential until her friends lives are in danger.
Rating: 9.5/10. A wonderfully dark episode for Nick that surpassed my expectations beyond my wildest dreams.... Just the way I like it. ^^
Blood bending, certainly a cool hex ability.
But something is definitely 'scary' though in the episode:
Got freaked out for a while. xD
The ending bit was incredible! It's the scariest. That lady was a freak, though if I were Katara I wouldn't of burst into tears.
I can now imagine Katara dehydrating someone....to death.... Now I know Nick would never show something like that but wow wouldn't that be interesting....
